3.0 and Push Reminders!
I am planning to merge the Full version into the Lite version soon (full users will be able to easily migrate). The below features only apply to the Lite version (which will not be named Lite soon).
I noticed that people are buying Reminders, but nobody seems to have activated it yet. Maybe I’m just paranoid, but if you are having any issues, contact me.
1. Push Reminders! For any given item you will be able to select when you want to receive a reminder for it. You will receive the reminder even if the app is not running. To enable this, go to the System Preferences -> Forecasting and enable it. You can also select if you want to receive email instead (you can do both too). Also select the time of day when you would like to receive reminders. Unfortunately, a server is required to run this in the background, so it is currently a one time in store purchase for $0.99. You can purchase it by simply going to the third page of the Add view and changing the switch to ON. The Lite version will be able to fully benefit from this feature (if Reminders are purchased). Warning: an internet connection is needed to receive notifications. If none is available at the time the notification is sent, it may be lost. Also, a connection is needed to send the data to the server. Future versions will handle this properly, but for now, if there’s no internet, your reminders will NOT be updated.
2. Done button in Options
3. Better scrolling experience when creating or editing an item
4. Fixed a rare issue with auto-updating balance. It should always work now. Just to clarify, the way it works is the following: each time you modify anything, it recalculates your future balances and stores them for their respective days. Then, the next time you open your app, it will see what the current date is, and pull in the corresponding balance for that day. Of course, this only works if there were no other charges to your account that Balance Forecasting doesn’t know of. Note: this requires an internet connection. Nothing will happen if you don’t have one, you just won’t get the updated balance.
5. Fixed an issue where the exceptions would be reset for an item even if nothing changed when editing it.
6. You can now directly unlock the full version from the app through an in-store purchase. Do to so, try to create a seventh item. A message will pop up, which will ask you if you would like to upgrade.
As always, please don’t forget to rate the app!
Upcoming: many performance improvements, so you will never have to wait to load or calculate; import/export and web access to your data; screen lock.
If you have any suggestions, let me know. I’m great at fulfilling people’s wishes by writing features they request.

Need support for multiple accounts
Need support for multiple accounts. Currently I handle this by using the lite version for my less active account, however, if the full version is merged with the light version this will no longer be an option. I suggest having the ability add accounts and select the account you want to work with.
Automatic cash transfers
Having multiple accounts would be great for supporting the automatic cash transfers. For example when your checking account reaches a certain balance then a transfer entry would be made from another account such as a saving account (or vise versa). This would help to not only forecast the balance but manage it too. It would also be useful for people who use multiple accounts for different purposes such as personal expenses and business expenses.
Multiple accounts
That is definitely on my todo list. Stay tuned!
Recurring Expenses
I just realized that I am not seeing recurring expenses appear in the forecast or calendar beyond this month except for 1 recurring item. I also see recurring income on both the calendar and forecast. Is that app malfunctioning or am I doing something wron?
Re: Recurring Expenses
Hi,
In the Forecast view on the upper right, you should see an Options button where you can change the amount of time you forecast in the future. Move that date up to more than a month and let me know if that does not fix it.
Also, please double check that your bills are Repeating.

Re: Recurring Expenses
It wasn't that. I tried it. I think it might have had something to do with creating an end date for a recurring expense. I couldn't figure it out so I deleted the app from my phone and reloaded it. After entering everything, I realized that one of the items needed changed to set an end date for repeating items. When I changed it, all the expenses disappeared after the first in the sequence of that item. I deleted the item and reentered it, putting in the correct data first and not having to edit it, and it was fine there after. It seems to have something to do with updating an existing record and the end date. I tried to duplicate the error but can't. I will let you know if it happens again. It is a very good app. I have been doing this on paper for some time. It is nice to be able to have it at the tip of my finger and so dynamic.
Interesting
I will definitely check the code that deals with end dates for an item. Definitely let me know if that happens again.
I'm glad that you like the app! An update is on the way with tons of new features. Stay tuned!

Not to be a pest
One thing that is rather disconcerting is that the balance doesn't seem to carry over from day to day. Yesterday, before several expenses were processed, my running balance was fine into the future. But today it is in the negative. I turned on the Auto-set balance thing but it did not change anything. Any suggestions.
Balance
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you please detail your scenario?
Just to make sure you are not misunderstanding the intent of the program. The balance you set on the first line in the Forecast view is your current bank balance, that you should keep up to date to get an accurate forecast. Without the Auto-set balance enabled, this should not change if you don't manually update it. With the feature on, it will update it for you based on what expenses you have coming up. So if your balance today is $1000 and tomorrow you have a bill for $100, then if you open the app two days from now, your balance should be automatically set to $900.
When you say your running balance is in the negative today, do you mean that your current balance minus whatever bills you have coming up produce an amount < $0? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.
Upgrade
I am trying to do the upgrade to 4.0 as instructed on the app but I can't find 4.0 and the instructions for doing the upgrade vanished when I upgraded the full version that I currently have. Can you post the instructions here?
4.0
Hi,
I'm sorry, but for some reason, Apple didn't approve both apps at the same time. For all previous times they did, but not this time... It's still in review and it should be out shortly. Please download the Lite version so you can see when it's updated.
Robert
Thanks
And thanks for posting the instructions.
